Envision Milliken Continued

The Plan makes recommendations in the areas of housing, neighborhoods, transportation, economic development, parks and open space, historical and cultural resources, community facilities, agricultural and natural resources, utilities, and intergovernmental cooperation. When adopted, Envision Milliken will be one of the primary tools used by Town departments, the Planning Commission, Town Board and other policy bodies to make decisions about the location of land uses and community facilities, priorities for public investment and the extension of public services, business development, and how to meet transportation needs.

A great deal of thoughtful work went into creating the present long-term vision to help guide the town’s growth, known as the Comprehensive Plan, which was originally adopted in 1998, and subsequently amended in 2004.  However, more needs to be done to better reflect citizen’s current perspectives and address the financial challenges the Town faces to keep up with public infrastructure needs.

Unlike these past planning efforts, Envision Milliken will take into account strategies for coordinating and leveraging the Town’s investment, policy and programming to maximize economic opportunity and the quality of life for all citizens of Milliken.
